Our Story
Draftpick Apparel is a multisport apparel company located in South Florida that focuses on providing premium athletic wear for athletes of all ages. At the very core are the founders and brothers, Robert and Kevin Slattery. Both were raised in South Florida and their love for sports, specifically baseball, began in the 1980s.
Back in the 80s, before social media and the internet, kids played outside and that’s an understatement for Robert and Kevin. They were outside, a lot! They played all sports imaginable. From shooting hoops in the driveway like Jordan, Bird and Magic, to tossing the football around like Marino, Duper and Clayton in the fall, to playing stickball with a balled-up paper covered in duct tape while hitting absolute taters like Canseco and McGwire. Sports was everything to them. It became an obsession every day to compete against one another and that’s when their brotherly love and their love for sports merged. Imagine having to wait till the next morning to read your local newspaper’s Sports section for the box score of MLB, NBA or NFL games from the day before. Yup, that’s how it was back then. Then ESPN came along, and it was awesome with Baseball Tonight, NFL Primetime and Sportscenter! Robert and Kevin loved every second of it.
As they became adults, their love for sports never faded. Working as Realtors® in South Florida, they both still had a passion for sports and didn’t want to abandon that love. So, they continued by volunteering and coaching their cousin’s local baseball team in Miami Lakes, FL as the new Millenium approached. It wasn’t simply teaching the young kids about the fundamentals of baseball physically, but the mental side of it as well. Even at an early age, they knew how important it was to instill in young ballplayers about having love and passion for the game. It worked! They created a competitive team that over time had much success.
Fast forward 10+ years, Robert and Kevin became fathers. Since their kids were less than a year apart in age, when it came time for the young boys to pick up a bat and ball, the brothers had the solution. From tball, to coach pitch, to kid pitch, to 13U moving onto the big field, Robert and Kevin coached and instilled their love and passion for the game of baseball. The outcome of that has led to their team’s success in what is now known as travel baseball. They simply have always enjoyed teaching the kids the right way to play ball.
Now, we present to you Draftpick Apparel. Premium athletic wear that is created and fueled by our love of the game. Our mission is to provide athletes of all ages and fans alike with athletic clothing, geared towards their passion for sports. We all share that passion in one way or another, and it’s now time that we share ours with the world.
